How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?
I just found the things that bring me joy in life and made it a part of my career. I enjoy people and making people happy. I want those around me to feel loved and supported.
Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?
Casey Thurman. Casey was the director of a summer camp I went to and worked at for years. She is one of the kindest souls I have ever met. Through her kindness, she taught me to enjoy every moment, both big and small. That all creatures are to be loved. Singing can lift anyone’s spirits. I am a better person because of the simple life lessons she instilled in me, and I strive to be just an ounce like her every day.
How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?
Through LinkedIn and alumni associations.
How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?
You can pick your friends, which is truly the most beautiful about friendships. I am a believer that some friends are meant to be in your life when you need them most. Some are long friendship and others short, but they are all meaningful and necessary to become the person you are today. I truly cherish all of my friendships, and can’t thank all of them enough for helping me become the woman I am today. So cherish every moment. What happens will happen. The key is to learn from them.
My Delta Zeta friendships have been a part of my career. I have learned from DZs 40 years older than me to 10 years younger than me. Delta Zeta friendships have no boundaries and can expand generations.
