How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?
My passion for graphic design started when I volunteered to assist organizations that I’m a member with expressing their voice through creativity. Graphic design is not just making things look pretty, but making design functional. I love creating things that people connect with.
Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?
Currently, my mentor is my Professor and Director of the Design Management master’s program at Georgetown University. She lectures on communication skills, and I have learned so much from her.
How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?
Staying active on LinkedIn has been a great tool to keep in touch with people I’ve connected with over the years.
How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?
I find that making friends in the workplace, and not just working with colleagues, helps tremendously with work-life balance. Cultivating those connections not only makes your workday easier but helps you mentally be in the best place at your job. Keeping those friendships, even outside of work and after you leave a job, has proved essential for me.
My friend, Adrianna, has been behind me every step of the way in my career. We connected early on in our professional careers, even though we never worked together, but more or less to run ideas by each other and talk through our experiences in the workplace and organizations.
