How did you discover your passion for what you do?

I grew up in a small town with only about 500 people in my entire high school K-12th grade. Access to healthcare was a challenge to say the least. My brother had a serious illness, that he ultimately overcame – but having access to the appropriate specialist at the right time would have made his journey much easier. Access to healthcare for rural communities is something I get to wake up each day and focus on, and there is no greater reward than knowing you are helping create a situation that might make life a little better for others.

What opportunities have helped shape your career?

The opportunities and experiences afforded to me as an undergraduate leader in Delta Zeta are invaluable. These experiences gave me the chance to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. Ultimately, I believe these experiences have helped me to be a better leader and teammate in my career.

How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?

Technology makes this easier, but it is certainly an area that you have to make a priority. It’s easy to get caught up in balancing day-to-day work, family time, volunteer time and personal time. To add in professional networking takes time, energy and focus. While still a priority – it likely takes a backseat to some other more important things in this current season of life.
