How did you discover your passion for what you do?

After three years of infertility, my husband and I decided God was calling us to adopt. After going through the process with very little knowledge, I knew it was my calling to help others pursuing adoption. During this process, I found out so much more about foster care and the dire needs within this organization. Knowing my son could have been one of the 400,000 children in the foster care system, I knew I had to do something to help. The Queen of Bags Initiative was born first as a pageant platform but then sprung into so much more. The change it has made not only in the lives of others, but also in me, is something that I will carry with me forever.

What words of wisdom or advice do you live by?

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others. For a beautiful smile, speak only words of kindness, and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.  Also, the golden rule is an all-time favorite – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Which Delta Zeta shared value resonates with you most, and why?

Empowerment, because it is what we need to succeed. It goes along with sisterhood and belonging very closely because we must be united and support one another in our day-to-day walks. Men and women alike, we should be there to support one another for work, family, our walks with God, and those in need. By empowering others and giving them the tools and support needed to succeed, we are building future leaders. We are also setting an example of the way a good leader should lead.
