(Oxford, Ohio) National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW) is right around the corner, creating an opportunity to stand united in education, awareness and advocacy to prevent hazing in all forms: physical, emotional and psychological. Preparing ahead ensures your chapter can participate meaningfully and visibly.
National Hazing Prevention Week is a reminder of our responsibility as Delta Zetas to foster safe, supportive and empowering spaces for all members. Your leadership and advocacy can make an impact on your campus and beyond.
Educate Yourself and Your Chapter
Before the week begins, refresh your understanding of hazing: what it is, how it shows up and why it’s harmful.
Encourage members to review Delta Zeta’s Anti-Hazing Policy through the National Policy Statements Refresher course, and for those interested in serving as a big sister, complete the Big Sister Certification to help create and maintain a safe, supportive sisterhood.
HazingPrevention.org has partnered with national organizations to provide webinars and recordings that increase knowledge and understanding of hazing behaviors, prevention strategies and the impact hazing has within the fraternity and sorority experience.
You can also utilize the tabling activities from StopHazing.org during or after a chapter meeting to strengthen your knowledge as a group!

Plan an Awareness Activity
Pick a day for your chapter to wear purple or distribute awareness buttons. Consider using your chapter’s social media accounts to amplify the message. Share photos and quotes, or use the toolkit available at HazingPrevention.org for templates and more resources.
During National Hazing Prevention Week, many fraternity and sorority life offices, governing councils and student organizations host programs with guest speakers and workshops. Encourage attendance, and participate fully as part of your chapter’s commitment.
If your campus is not hosting events, lead the way by asking your Fraternity/Sorority Advisor or campus life staff how hazing prevention programming can be brought to your community in the future. Even a small step such as cosponsoring a workshop with another chapter can spark broader campus-wide education.
Advocate Through Action
Invite members to take the Hazing Prevention Pledge together at a meeting or online. This small step creates a culture of accountability. By signing, you commit to being aware of hazing behaviors, supporting peers who may be experiencing them and speaking up when something isn’t right. Together, we can create a safer, stronger sisterhood. #BeTheLeader on your campus!
When chapters prepare intentionally for National Hazing Prevention Week, they help shape a safer fraternity and sorority community across campuses nationwide. Start planning now so your chapter can lead with action and example.
Thank you for helping us live out our values of friendship, curiosity, generosity, empowerment, community and belonging by standing firmly against hazing.
