Delta Zeta Foundation awards first ever Continuing Education and Certification Grants.
Delta Zeta women pursue personal and professional growth throughout their lives and careers. The Delta Zeta Foundation is now proud to offer financial support for alumnae who have invested in their own development through training programs, professional certifications and other educational pursuits beyond traditional graduate degree programs.
Continuing Education and Certification Grants are designed to alleviate some of the financial burden for alumnae members pursuing professional success through career advancement, career change or return to work in response to a wide variety of professional or family circumstances.
Jo Anne Noone, Theta Rho-California State University/Los Angeles is pursuing a transition in her career from teaching high school students to teaching college students from diverse backgrounds. Jo Anne can make this transition thanks in part to the funding from this grant for her special designed academic instruction in English program.
Beyond the direct impact on Jo Anne’s own career advancement, she will continue to mentor and support her students in achieving their goals as they progress in the public safety pathway. She assisted students in researchingcolleges and degree programs and written college and scholarship recommendations for students. “Knowing that writing a reference letter for a student helped her earn a scholarship was an immensely proud moment, because I know she has it in her to reach her career goals in this field.”
Lucinda Biehn, Xi Phi, University of Missouri/Kansas City, recently completed her Mortgage Loan Originator license to help further her career as a realtor. She is grateful for support from the grant as she reaches her fullest potential.
“Being a Realtor, I wear a lot of hats. I’d say the most important part of the role is connecting people. This grant will help me go deeper into supporting the needs of my clients on the financial side. I am a steward of information that could unlock the dream of home ownership and propel someone into the investment that can change their lives.”
Lucinda reflected on how Delta Zeta has impacted her life in subtle ways, from how she works with others in her profession to how she shows up in her community as a volunteer.
“The feeling of being empowered by other women is something sacred; it’s looking around seeing other women and knowing you are seeing protectors, allies and kindred souls. I want those who contributed to this grant to know that I am so grateful. I can feel their belief in my endeavors.”
The Delta Zeta Foundation Continuing Education and Certification Grants are available to any alumna member who has recently completed a program, certification, licensure, exam or other pathway that empowers her to grow professionally.
