Thank you to each and every one of our Delta Zeta volunteers who truly keep the light of the flame burning! As Alfa said, “Our Sorority ideals serve ever to remind us we can help others in this game of life.” Take a minute to read this volunteer shoutout from one of our members:
“Jessi Luck was one of my Delta Omega advisors during my time as an undergraduate. She quickly became someone who was more than just my financial advisor. Jessi welcomed me with open arms to Delta Omega, and as a first generation and transfer student, having a friendly face made the transition much better. Jessi has been an advisor for over 15 years and truly has a passion for supporting the active members of our chapter. Jessi is a friend and a mentor and is always going out of her way to be there for whatever our chapter needs. Jessi quickly took on a role as a mother figure for me during my time as an active member. She became someone who I would reach out to all the time. Not just for Delta Zeta related things, but personal life situations as well. She became a friend, role model, a mentor, and someone who I would consider a part of my family. She has been a part of all my successes in life and the low times of my life and has been there to comfort me and to encourage me to keep pushing forward. Her heart is so big for those that she loves and cares for and I am beyond blessed to know that she loves me and cares for me. Even though I have been an alumnus since 2013, Jessi still reaches out and checks in on me and asks me how I am doing, how my family is, how my job is going, not because she has to but because she cares.
Her dedication to our local chapter, Delta Omega, is beyond comprehension. She has supported this chapter through the celebrations and the adversities that it has been through. She was an advisor when our chapter had less than 10 members and was on the verge of closing. Her and the rest of the advisors during that time never gave up and continued to support and encourage the members. Because of her passion and dedication, we are still at FHSU today and continue to be an excelling chapter in all areas of university life. She has dedicated so many hours of her time to advising the executive board, but also meeting with members personally to help them through whatever struggle they were currently going through. I specifically remember a time when I had to take a semester off due to finances and my parents not being able to support my college expenses. I went back home for a whole semester, and Jessi kept in touch with me during that time. She would reach out check in on me, send me words of encouragement, and made me feel like I was still a part of the chapter. When I was able to return the next fall, I felt like I had never left. She and the rest of the advisors and chapter members welcomed me back with open arms. I am lucky to now serve on the advisory board alongside her and continue our friendship through this volunteer opportunity. Thank you Delta Zeta for giving me Jessi Luck!” Alma Hidalgo-Blankenship, Delta Omega-Fort Hays State (KS)

Our shared definition of Generosity states that “Delta Zeta women willingly and freely share and provide help to others without expecting anything in return.” In theory, this sounds ideal. However, we are all human and cannot always be freely sharing our resources, time, assistance and encouragement without also being generous to ourselves. In order to take care…
