From Behind the Screen to Behind the Scenes: My Delta Zeta Internship Experience

Delta Zeta Women's Membership Organization | Delta Zeta Sorority

By Saachi Sharma, Kappa, University of Washington, Marketing & Communications Intern

Serving as a Marketing & Communications Intern for Delta Zeta’s National Headquarters has been one of the most rewarding and unforgettable experiences of my college career.

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to create engagement content for a vast and diverse audience of members around the world. From planning social campaigns and writing PR-style articles, to drafting blog posts and even publishing my own feature in The LAMP, I gained first-hand experience in communication strategies that strengthen the Delta Zeta sisterhood every day.

One of my favorite parts of this internship is that it took me far beyond my laptop screen, an experience that most internships don’t provide. I was personally able to travel to Minneapolis for Leader Summit, Orlando and Houston for Everlasting events and National Convention. Some of my peers were able to attend Everlasting events in Charlotte and Cincinnati as part of the internship program. Each event offered a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations of a large nonprofit organization and the teamwork that powers it. Whether helping plan logistics, supporting event operations or capturing moments for our social media channels, I learned just how much heart and attention goes into everything Delta Zeta does.

Most of all, I’m grateful for the incredible people I met along the way. Working with the other interns was a highlight of my experience. I will cherish the times we shared, laughing through our meetings, creating countless memories and building friendships that I know will last a lifetime.

Looking back, this internship taught me not only about communications and marketing, but also about collaboration, purpose and the impact of sisterhood in action. I’m walking away with stronger professional skills, amazing memories and a deeper love for my sisters at Delta Zeta.
