Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most?Empowerment
Tell us about a defining moment in your career so far – how did it impact your future and what did you learn from it?
My Ph.D. taught me how to think like a scientist, and by joining Moderna I learned how to translate scientific research into meaningful patient impact. Working in a fast-paced, cross-functional team to advance oncology treatments from the laboratory to the clinic has pushed me to take ownership amid ambiguity and communicate science in ways that influence decisions. I have learned that doing good science is essential, but meaningful impact also comes from collaboration, adaptability and curiosity. This experience has shaped the kind of scientist and leader I want to become.
What advice would you give Delta Zeta sisters pursuing leadership roles in your field?
My advice to others pursuing leadership roles in this field is to lead with collaboration, humility and honesty. You do not need to be an expert in every field. I believe that the strongest leaders recognize that success depends on bringing diverse perspectives into the room, asking curious questions and adapting to new evidence as it emerges. Leadership is about building a safe environment where the best answers can be found by working together.
How has being a Delta Zeta influenced your professional journey or approach to leadership?
Being a Delta Zeta at Arizona State University provided some of my earliest opportunities to build confidence and develop leadership skills. Forming relationships with sisters from diverse backgrounds with different perspectives from my own taught me the value of listening and creating space for others. Those experiences continue to shape how I approach my professional roles. Delta Zeta has also given me a lasting network of women whom I know I could turn to any day for advice, support, encouragement and assistance.
