Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most?Community
Tell us about a defining moment in your career so far – how did it impact your future and what did you learn from it?
I started my career in graphic design, and after seven years, I began working as an event planner. Transitioning roles forced me to grow in ways I didn’t anticipate. I understood the creative process deeply, but now I had to own the logistics, timelines, people and everything else that goes along with it. That experience taught me how to think holistically, manage details at scale and lead a team rather than only contribute to one aspect. Once I leaned into that step up, it expanded what I thought I was capable of.
What advice would you give Delta Zeta sisters pursuing leadership roles in your field?
Say yes before you feel ready. The confidence comes after the work, not before it. It’s also important to take time to learn every part of the process, even the unglamorous parts, because that knowledge is what makes you credible when you’re the one giving direction. When you’re in a position to lead others, remember what it felt like to be in the weeds. I think great leaders understand the work before they delegate it. Experience isn’t just valuable, it’s your foundation.
How has being a Delta Zeta influenced your professional journey or approach to leadership?
Being a Delta Zeta taught me that leadership isn’t about a title, it’s about showing up and wanting to be the best for the people around you. The shared values we built our sisterhood on translate directly into how I approach teams and professional relationships . Delta Zeta gave me confidence before my career gave me a reason to have it. It was a place where I could take on responsibility, make decisions and see the impact of my work on others. Serving as DZ’s t-shirt chair reinforced that details matter in every role, and that even small roles leave a mark people remember.
