Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most? Empowerment
Can you share a brief 5-7 sentence biography about yourself, highlight key moments in your career that have shaped who you are today?
My career journey has been one of transformation, resilience and a deep commitment to bridging security and business strategy. I began with a background in criminal justice at Temple University, never expecting to enter the world of cybersecurity and enterprise architecture. However, my curiosity and passion for problem-solving led me to pursue a Master of Science in IT auditing and cybersecurity, where I earned a scholarship sponsored by Intel that opened the door to my career. Midway through my studies, Intel offered me a role as an Information Security Specialist, recognizing my ability to translate complex security concepts into business solutions. I have since advanced to an enterprise security and business architect, leading initiatives that secure critical government programs and drive strategic innovation. Winning the Top 50 Women in Cybersecurity Americas 2023 Award was a defining moment, reinforcing my dedication to leadership and mentorship in the field. My journey has taught me that growth happens when we step outside our comfort zones, and I remain committed to empowering others to do the same.
Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from this friendship?
Suzy Ramirez Greenberg, Vice President of Product Assurance and Security at Intel Corporation, has been an invaluable mentor and friend in my professional journey. Suzy has demonstrated that it’s possible to excel as a female leader while balancing a fulfilling family life, teaching me the importance of mutual support and learning among female professionals. Our relationship is reciprocal; she often expresses that she gains inspiration from our interactions, reinforcing the value of shared growth and empowerment. Through her friendship, I’ve learned that leadership is not just about personal success but also about uplifting others and fostering a community of continuous learning.
How did you discover your passion and what opportunities have helped shape your curiosity for what you do?
I discovered my passion for leadership, security and business strategy through a combination of curiosity, mentorship and a desire to create opportunities for others. Early in my career, I realized that true success isn’t just about personal growth but about lifting others along the way. This belief led me to create the Information Security Emerging Leader Program (ELP) — not just as a pathway for my own leadership aspirations, but as a model for fostering growth among my peers. My goal was to equip future leaders with the tools, mentorship and strategic mindset needed to thrive in complex, high-impact environments. Through ELP, I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of community-driven leadership, where we support, challenge and empower each other to evolve. This experience has cemented my passion for building resilient teams, mentoring the next generation and shaping the future of cybersecurity and business architecture.
Looking ahead in your career, how do you envision continuing to incorporate generosity into your leadership style and professional endeavors?
Looking ahead, I envision generosity as a core principle in my leadership journey, especially as I work toward my goal of becoming a vice president. To me, true leadership isn’t just about personal success, it’s about leaving the ladder down for others and ensuring that those who come after me have the support, mentorship and opportunities they need to thrive. I will continue to lead with humility, recognizing that learning is a two-way street and that great leaders grow alongside their teams. Whether through mentorship, championing diversity in cybersecurity, or fostering leadership programs like the Emerging Leader Program, I am committed to empowering the next generation. My goal is to create a culture where generosity, inclusion and support are the foundation of leadership, ensuring that success is not just individual, but collective.
How has your community helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?
My Delta Zeta sisters have been an unwavering source of support, encouragement, and empowerment throughout my career and personal journey. The bonds we formed in our sorority have only strengthened over the years, and these incredible women have been my biggest cheerleaders — celebrating every win, whether it’s a new certification, career milestone or leadership opportunity. Beyond professional success, they have stood by me during life’s most significant moments, from attending my wedding to offering comfort during the tragic loss of my aunt. Through every challenge and triumph, we have empowered each other, reinforcing the values of sisterhood, strength and generosity. Their unwavering support reminds me daily that success is not just about personal achievements but about lifting each other up and growing together.
What does empowerment mean to you, and how have you worked to empower others in your career or personal life?
To me, empowerment means resilience, being unapologetically yourself and enabling others to reach heights they never thought possible until someone paved the way. It’s about breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and leading with confidence and authenticity. Throughout my career, I have worked to empower others by mentoring emerging leaders and championing diversity in cybersecurity. My goal has always been to equip others with the resources they need to succeed, just as I have been supported along my journey. Whether through mentorship, advocating for women in tech or leading by example, I strive to show others that their ambitions are valid, achievable and worth pursuing. Empowerment is not just about individual success, it’s forging new paths and ensuring no one has to navigate their journey alone.
What does it mean to you to create an environment of belonging for others, and how do you carry that lesson into your personal and professional life?
Creating an environment of belonging means fostering a space where everyone feels seen, valued and empowered to be their authentic selves. It’s about ensuring that people, regardless of their background or experiences, feel supported. In my professional life, I have carried this lesson by mentoring emerging leaders, advocating for diversity in cybersecurity and being a role model. I also lead with humility and generosity, recognizing that true leadership is about uplifting those around you and leaving the ladder down for others. Whether in my community, workplace or personal relationships, I strive to create spaces where people feel valued, supported and inspired to reach their full potential.
