Any Delta Zeta alumna member may apply for this esteemed opportunity to serve at the highest level of volunteer leadership for Delta Zeta, or you may also recommend a Delta Zeta member for service on National Council.

Serving on National Council provides many benefits, including the opportunity to advance the strategic direction of the Sorority, have an impact on an organization with 300,000 members worldwide along with building a strong professional network and giving back to Delta Zeta.
What skills should a member on National Council have?
As noted in the job description, Delta Zeta seeks leaders who demonstrate:

What are the responsibilities of National Council?
As noted in the job description, the National Council of Delta Zeta Sorority provides strategic governance and oversight for the organization. Council members are responsible for ensuring Delta Zeta's continued growth, financial stability and alignment with its mission and core values. The National Council represents the interests of the Sorority's membership and community while fostering commitment to Delta Zeta’s core values, including Friendship, Belonging, Community, Empowerment, Generosity and Curiosity.
The National Council’s purpose is to hold the legal and fiduciary responsibility for the governance of Delta Zeta Sorority. This includes setting the strategic direction, establishing policies, overseeing financial and operational health and ensuring the Sorority’s long-term viability. The National Council also supports the execution of policies and programs by providing necessary resources, including volunteer, staff and financial, while also creating a culture of accountability, trust and inclusivity.

To apply, do I need previous volunteer leadership experience for Delta Zeta?
No. The nomination process is an important time for all Delta Zeta members to consider this opportunity to serve and lead the organization from a strategic perspective. As part of consideration for National Council, Delta Zeta seeks strong leaders from not only its volunteer base, but also Delta Zeta leaders who have demonstrated and proven accomplished leadership skills, through business, non-profit leadership or with other organizations, that could benefit Delta Zeta as it continues to evolve for its future members.
While previous experience on any non-profit board is always beneficial, we strive to build a diverse board that brings together a team of leaders with a variety of experiences and leadership expertise to advance Delta Zeta for the future.
How many members are selected for National Council through this process?
Six members will be presented to the National Convention body for election to National Council.
