Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most? Community
Tell us about a defining moment in your career so far – how did it impact your future and what did you learn from it?
The first time I was able to move a survivor to safety away from their abusive partner, I knew I was in the right field. Not only did I truly realize my love for the work, but I also realized the genuine impact I can have on other people when I am in a position to support them. It makes the hard days worth it knowing I am helping move survivors towards a life of safety and healing.
What advice would you give Delta Zeta sisters pursuing leadership roles in your field?
Make connections and see how you can help out. Networking with people in the nonprofit space can connect you with folks in your desired niche. The nonprofit world can be a tight-knit community, so the more people you know, the bigger impression you can make. The best place to start is by learning whenever you can (ask lots of questions) and volunteering the skills you already have. Show them that you can be an asset to their team and that you are willing to grow!
How has being a Delta Zeta influenced your professional journey or approach to leadership?
Joining Delta Zeta inspired me to pursue my true passion for helping others. I realized when I was an active member that my favorite days were those of service to our community. I knew I could make the biggest impact when my voice was amplified, which gave me the confidence to pursue leadership roles within the chapter and beyond. I’ve learned to ask for growth opportunities so I can be of better service to the survivors I work with and set myself up for success in the future to run my own nonprofit someday.
