Tell us about a defining moment in your career so far – how did it impact your future and what did you learn from it?
Early in my career, I was asked to join a team within my brokerage. The team leader took me under her wing and mentored me both in real estate and leadership. Though I’m no longer part of the team, the biggest lesson from that time in my career was if you stay true to who you are and don’t compromise your values chasing a check or clout, the business and success will still find it’s way to you.
What advice would you give Delta Zeta sisters pursuing leadership roles in your field?
Never doubt your seat at the table. Over my leadership journey, I’ve found myself being one of, if not the youngest and least experienced people in the room, and that can be intimidating. What I’ve found, is that same group of people has probably been waiting for a new face to take the leap and step up into a leadership roleand will be eager to take you in and help you thrive in that new position.
How has being a Delta Zeta influenced your professional journey or approach to leadership?
Delta Zeta helped me see the importance of being part of a bigger group and serving others. Exposing yourself to new or different opinions and experiences helps you grow into a better, more well-rounded leader. Building relationships is huge in my career, and through leading and volunteering in the community, I’ve been able to make those connections to help nourish and further my career. Because of Delta Zeta instilling these values in its members, I’ve seen myself grow to become a more effective leader and professional in my industry.
