Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most? Belonging

How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?

I have always loved animals, having seven of my own. At the time I was working toward my Master’s Degree, I knew I wanted to work in the non-profit sector, but wasn’t sure how. I have type 1 diabetes and am also passionate about that, but not sure if I wanted to pursue that direction. Working with animals is truly a blessing each and every day.

Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?

My friends have always encouraged me to try new things and strive for better! I never imagined my life to be where I am today, working on a fundraising team raising millions for animals in need.

What words of wisdom or advice do you live by?

Change is a constant in life. Embrace it, adapt to it, and use it as an opportunity for growth. Having been diagnosed with diabetes at 23, and going through IVF at 29, I try my best to adapt and embrace change in every way possible!

What is the most impactful book you have read, or podcast you have listened to, that relates to you professionally? What made it so impactful?

While my professional career can be non-stop and stressful, I like to relax by listening to comedy and true crime podcasts! While these aren’t necessarily professional, they help me decompress from the day and turn off my brain, so I can be successful the next day and the next.

How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?

I am active on Linkedin, while also attending happy hours and giving tours to interested individuals at our animal shelter. Facebook also helps me stay connected now that I live in Delaware but grew up in Pennsylvania!

How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?

While in college, I was on the Executive Board of my chapter. Having that experience helped me grow as an individual and make me confident in my career.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Hang out with friends (including fellow DZ sisters)!
