Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most? Empowerment
How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?
Growing up in the country, I was always surrounded by agriculture, and I knew from a young age I loved mathematics and science. his lead me to pursue a degree in engineering. I was actually introduced to my career through a Delta Zeta sister, where I was able to combine my love for the outdoors, agriculture and engineering.
Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?
While I have had a lot of mentor throughout my career, my parents have been a constant throughout. Both have been supportive and always encouraging me to continue to grow not only professionally but personally as well. They have exhibited servant leadership and have taught me to do ”one thing at a time” when I feel overwhelmed.
What words of wisdom or advice do you live by?
“If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.” – Abraham Lincoln
What is the most impactful book you have read, or podcast you have listened to, that relates to you professionally? What made it so impactful?
“Good To Great” by Jim Collins is a great read and gave me a fresh perspective on leadership and running a team. I also often listen to the “Coaching for Leaders” Podcast which has a myriad of different topics.
How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?
I continually attend conferences which helps me stay connected with my professional peers. Additionally I serve on a variety of professional boards which also helps me stay connected.
How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?
All of my sisters have supported me from college through my career. While we may not see or talk to each other every day, I know that we can reach out to them whenever I need guidance both professionally and personally.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Spending time outdoors with my family
