Which of the Delta Zeta shared values resonates with you the most? Friendship
Tell us about a defining moment in your career so far – how did it impact your future and what did you learn from it?
I will never forget an Afghan father with four daughters who, through tears, told me his girls ”can now dream again” after arriving in the U.S.
Watching those children attend school and imagine their futures reminded me what dedicated public service can accomplish. For many families around the world, safety, education and hope are not guaranteed. Witnessing their resilience and gratitude has reinforced why I chose this career, shaped my approach to leadership, strengthened my commitment to service and shown me that even behind-the-scenes work can profoundly change lives.
What advice would you give Delta Zeta sisters pursuing leadership roles in your field?
My advice to Delta Zeta sisters pursuing leadership roles is to ask for the extra assignment, volunteer for the project that may not be the most glamorous but will have the greatest impact and take on additional responsibilities without waiting to be asked.
Consistently demonstrating initiative, reliability and a willingness to go the extra mile helps build trust and credibility with leaders and colleagues alike. Those behind-the-scenes efforts often create the strongest foundation for future leadership opportunities. The work may not always be immediately recognized, but over time, your commitment and work ethic will set you apart and pay dividends throughout your career.
How has being a Delta Zeta influenced your professional journey or approach to leadership?
During college, it provided me with opportunities to step into leadership roles, and I made it a priority to take advantage of as many of those experiences as possible. Those opportunities helped me build confidence, strengthen my communication skills and learn how to lead with collaboration and purpose.
Beyond college, Delta Zeta continued to impact my career by providing a strong network of community and connections as I entered the professional world. The leadership experiences and lifelong relationships I gained through Delta Zeta have continued to shape how I lead, collaborate and support others throughout my career.
