(Oxford, Ohio) Delta Zeta’s partnership with the Starkey Hearing Foundation goes beyond fundraising. It is a shared commitment to making a difference.
Each year, Starkey transforms lives around the world by providing the gift of hearing to individuals in need. This fall, Delta Zeta members will serve alongside Starkey’s team in Zambia and El Salvador to help fit hearing aids, assist in delivering hearing-related healthcare services and attend Starkey Hearing Institute graduation ceremonies.
Members from Beta Xi, Sigma, Gamma Kappa, Alpha Theta, Alpha Sigma, Beta Lambda, Pi Zeta, Omicron Lambda, Beta Delta, Lambda Xi, Iota Alpha, Alpha, Beta Gamma and Pi Tau chapters will be part of delivering these vital hearing health services.
We are incredibly proud and excited for this year’s Delta Zeta attendees who will be immersing themselves in these impactful missions. It is an experience that leaves a lasting mark.

So The World May Hear!
Caylyn Turner, Beta Xi Chapter, Auburn University (AL)
“I am so excited for this upcoming mission and getting to serve this wonderful philanthropy! At Auburn University, I currently serve as our chapter’s Philanthropy Assistant and felt immediately led when this opportunity was presented to me by our President and Vice President of Philanthropy! It’s an honor to have a chapter of women that support and believe in me for this role! As a person who is studying Speech Language and Hearing Sciences and as someone who has personally experienced hearing loss, I am thrilled to give back to a community that is so close to my heart! If I can make even one positive impact on someone’s life during this mission, then I will have done enough! I look forward to serving alongside my fellow sisters soon to support a philanthropy that does so much good for so many people!”
Abigail DiCristina, Sigma Chapter, Louisiana State University
“I am incredibly honored to have been selected from the Sigma Chapter to represent Delta Zeta on a mission trip to Africa. I am filled with gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to serve and connect with new communities through our incredible philanthropy. I know that this will be a truly life-changing experience, and I am most looking forward to making a meaningful impact and growing alongside my sisters from chapters all over the world.”
Maggie McCullough, Gamma Kappa Chapter, Kent State University (OH)
“I am beyond grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference across the world. Knowing that the love and support from my chapter made it possible and makes it even more meaningful. I can’t wait to give back and see the impact we can make together.”
Lilly Hillebrand, Alpha Theta Chapter, University of Kentucky
“I’m feeling really excited to go on the mission trip, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to go. I was selected because I am currently the Vice President of Philanthropy for the Alpha Theta Chapter.”
Anna Bass, Alpha Sigma Chapter, Florida State University
“I am so incredibly grateful and honored to be chosen to represent my chapter for such an amazing opportunity! I have been closely involved with our philanthropy since I joined Delta Zeta, and it has changed my whole life. I was inspired to change my career path and major because of the experiences I have had in my chapter with our local philanthropies, and now I am beyond thrilled to be able to experience the work that we do abroad! Helping others is truly one of the greatest joys of my life, and to know that we are making the world better, by doing what we are most passionate about, is really what this is all for! Thank you, Delta Zeta, and thank you, Alpha Sigma!”
Sophie Burt, Beta Gamma Chapter, University of Louisville (KY)
“I am interested in running for Vice President of Philanthropy at the Beta Gamma Chapter this year, and I was selected for the Starkey mission trip after an application and lots of hard work on our philanthropy committee. I am incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve the El Salvador community. I am most looking forward to forming relationships within the Delta Zeta organization, in the community and patients that we will see.”
Elianna Matuszewski, Beta Lambda Chapter, University of Tennessee/Knoxville
“I was offered this amazing opportunity through my involvement with our philanthropy as an assistant to my chapter’s Vice President of Philanthropy. My passion for philanthropy and my vocalization of excitement about the possibility of Starkey mission trips were driving factors in my selection as the Beta Lambda delegate, after learning about the opportunity during the Philanthropy Townhall. I am extremely excited for this opportunity, and I cannot get to El Salvador fast enough! I am currently studying audiology and speech pathology so I am looking forward to every aspect of this mission trip!”
Melaeni Rocker, Pi Zeta Chapter, Arizona State University
“I am extremely excited and blessed to be able to work with Starkey firsthand and have the opportunity to impact the lives of others while representing my Sorority.”
Claire McCallum, Omicron Lambda Chapter, North Carolina State University
“I’m a junior at NC State studying pre-audiology and pre-speech language pathology. I currently serve as the Recruitment Chair for NSSLHA (the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association chapter at NC State) and have been a member of the Philanthropy Committee every year since joining the chapter as a freshman.
“I have a strong passion for communication and am eager to use my love of hearing and language to help those in need in El Salvador. I’m currently undecided about whether I want to pursue a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree or a master’s in Speech-Language Pathology in graduate school, but I know I want to dedicate my career to helping others communicate and connect.
“Growing up, my brother had moderate hearing loss in both ears and has worn hearing aids his entire life. Seeing how that impacted his daily experiences showed me firsthand how life-changing access to hearing can be. I’m so excited for the opportunity to make a difference and help others improve their ability to connect with the world around them!”
Emily Baldauff, Beta Delta Chapter, University of South Carolina
“I feel absolutely incredible and so honored to have been chosen to represent the Beta Delta Chapter on the upcoming Starkey Hearing Foundation mission this fall to El Salvador! As one of Delta Zeta’s highest fundraising chapters last academic year, it means so much to see our efforts turn into real, life-changing impact through our partnership with Starkey Hearing Foundation. Serving as the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Elementary School Chair has made this opportunity even more special, and I cannot wait to experience firsthand the difference we’ve helped create! I’m so excited to give back, connect with the community, and return home ready to share our chapter’s story and the powerful impact of Starkey!”
Audrey Middleton, Lambda Xi Chapter, Texas A&M University
“Lambda Xi was chosen for this mission because we were one of the highest fundraising chapters! I’m incredibly thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to go on this mission and serve to the best of my ability. What I’m most excited about is meeting all the amazing individuals who make these missions possible and connecting with the people who receive new hearing aids. I know this will be a life-changing experience for everyone involved!”
Mina Medellin, Iota Alpha Chapter, Texas State University
“I’m the Vice President of Philanthropy for Delta Zeta at Texas State University, and I’m so honored to be able to represent our chapter on this Starkey mission trip. Being able to serve as the Vice President of Philanthropy has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. This chapter means everything to me, and I’m so excited to go on this trip and bring all the experiences and knowledge I gain back to my sisters!”
McCain Simms, Alpha Chapter, Miami University (OH)
“I feel extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to represent the Alpha Chapter of Delta Zeta on this mission trip to El Salvador. Our chapter was chosen as one of the highest fundraising chapters last academic year, and I’m honored to take part in continuing that impact. I’m most looking forward to building meaningful connections – both with the people I’m traveling with and with the community we’ll be serving.”
Sophie Iannelli, Pi Tau Chapter, Sacred Heart University (CT)
“Our chapter was one of the highest fundraising chapters in the nation this past academic year and, as Vice President of Philanthropy, I was selected to attend a Starkey Hearing mission in El Salvador! I am so honored to have been recognized in this way, and I am beyond excited to be able to have such an amazing opportunity.
