Delta Zeta Announces 2025–2027 National Council  

(Oxford, Ohio) During the 56th National Convention in Orlando, Florida, held July 31 – August 2, 2025, Delta Zeta Sorority introduced the newly elected National Council. The following National Council members will hold positions in their respective offices and lead the Sorority through the 2025–2027 biennium:  

• National President: Cathy Irvin Painter, Alpha Gamma, University of Alabama
• National Vice President: Laura Baxter Hedenberg, Gamma Beta, University of Connecticut
• National Vice President: Margaret A. Purcell, Ph.D., Alpha Gamma, University of Alabama
• National Vice President: Summer Hernandez Salazar, Omicron Alpha, St. Mary’s University
• National Vice President: Victoria Lautsch Scudlark, Alpha Alpha, Northwestern University
• National Vice President: Amy Wade, Zeta Psi, Stephen F. Austin State University

In addition, the National Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Christy Phillips-Brown, Theta Iota, Western Carolina University, as Past National President and Phyllis Sundberg Davis, Alpha Gamma Chapter, University of Alabama, as National Panhellenic Conference Delegate.

The National Council of Delta Zeta Sorority provides strategic governance and oversight for the organization. Council members are responsible for ensuring Delta Zeta’s continued growth, financial stability and alignment with its mission and core values. The National Council represents the interests of the Sorority’s membership and community while fostering commitment to Delta Zeta’s core values: Friendship, Belonging, Community, Empowerment, Generosity and Curiosity.

The National Council also holds the legal and fiduciary responsibility for the governance of Delta Zeta Sorority. This includes setting the strategic direction, establishing policies, overseeing financial and operational health and ensuring the Sorority’s long-term viability. The National Council supports the execution of policies and programs by providing necessary volunteer, staff and financial resources while creating a culture of accountability, trust and inclusivity.
