How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?

I grew up with two firefighter parents who were very hardworking, but never educated properly on investing, like most of America. I worked through college to pay off my education and graduate without debt, which made me motivated to learn how to put myself in a better financial situation and educate others.

The firm I work with now is unique because we have no investment minimums, meaning I can work with young individuals starting their career and unsure how to be properly allocating their money.

Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?

My mother has profoundly shaped my perspective and aspirations. As one of the few women in the San Francisco Fire Department, she embodies strength and determination, forging her own path with unwavering resolve. Through her tenacity, she has ascended the ranks to become a lieutenant, defying expectations and breaking down barriers along the way. Her journey exemplifies the resilience required to navigate male dominated industries, confronting biases and systemic challenges head-on. Despite the inevitable obstacles and moments of uncertainty, her story serves as a beacon of inspiration, highlighting the transformative power of representation. By courageously venturing into spaces where women are underrepresented, individuals like my mother not only challenge stereotypes but also pave the way for greater diversity and inclusivity. While the path may be arduous, it underscores the imperative of leading by example and championing progress towards a more equitable future. As she has demonstrated, it’s not an easy journey, but someone must dare to lead the way.

What words of wisdom or advice do you live by?

You can either make some hard changes or have a hard life.

(Related to evolving friendships, money habits, etc.)

What is the most impactful book you have read, or podcast you have listened to, that relates to you professionally? What made it so impactful?

”The Cure For Burnout” was written by a friend and talks about the challenges between wanting to excel in your career and staying mentally sane. Traditional books written about this usually just tell you to meditate, but this one gives you step-by-step actionable things that you can do to not burnout and still do it all.

How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?

I host events typically once a month for the various types of professionals that I work with and twice a year for the Women of Wealth Group.

How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?

My big, Elizabeth, has been an absolute rock for me, supporting me through every personal and professional milestone. From late-night heart-to-hearts to celebrating career victories, she’s been there every step of the way. Moreover, it’s funny how those college friendships can shape our futures. I owe a big part of where I am today to those connections. It was actually through a friend I used to study with that I got introduced to the company I’m at now. They saw something in me that aligned with the company’s mission, and that initial connection opened doors I never even imagined. It just shows the power of those relationships we build along the way.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Hang out with my dog, and go to concerts with my friends!
