2019 Presidents Academy prepares Delta Zeta leaders
More than 300 Delta Zetas gathered February 22 – 24 in Dallas, Texas for the 2019 Presidents Academy. The Delta Zeta Foundation is proud to sponsor this event where Chapter Presidents and College Chapter Directors (CCDs) develop connections, learn the expectations of their role and work together to set their chapter up for success.
The weekend kicked off with an exploration of Delta Zeta’s shared values through personal stories of our sisters around the country. We learned about friendship, curiosity, generosity, empowerment, citizenship and belonging and how they tie us all together.
Throughout the weekend, Chapter Presidents and CCDs were able to network through intimate breakout groups, allowing them to form bonds with other women who may be facing similar challenges. Our fearless CCDs took a deep dive into multigenerational relationships and how to best advise our collegiate women today.
“It has been really great connecting with other women who are also volunteering their time for Delta Zeta,” said JeanMarie DeLuca (Xi Iota – Muhlenberg College), CCD at Pi Upsilon – Long Island University Post. “You know that you are not alone dealing with college students.”
Chapter President Madison Vorndran (Pi Omicron – Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) feels inspired and empowered after attending Presidents Academy. “I’m getting such a wealth of knowledge – I’m very excited about going back to implement these new things with my chapter,” Madison said.
Programs like the Presidents Academy align with the Foundation’s tagline of “Empower the Woman,” with participants leaving Presidents Academy empowered to make changes in their chapters and inspire confidence in their members.
“Being in a leadership position in a Sorority gives you the opportunity to inspire others,” said Madison. “Being able to empower other women through other people empowering me, I feel like it’s a never-ending cycle. It’s just phenomenal as a woman.”
