Dear Delta Zeta Sisters,

Today, Delta Zeta’s National Council announces the 54th National Convention will be held virtually from July 15-18, 2021. We are excited be together virtually as a Convention body, to conduct Sorority business and to celebrate our sisterhood!

We originally postponed our 54th Convention to 2021 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, and current COVID restrictions in California do not allow large meeting gatherings in their state at this time. The management of the Renaissance Esmerelda Resort & Spa have therefore released Delta Zeta from our contract that they cannot fulfill. The option of postponing to 2022 for Convention was very carefully considered with many unknowns with regards to both operational issues and health and safety concerns. The National Council believes that given the multiple unknown circumstances for travel, immunity and the personal safety and comfort for our delegates who reside throughout the entire United States and Canada, it is in the Sorority’s best interest to “stay the course” and make plans for 2023.

So, what is in store for us virtually?

The opportunity as delegates to conduct the official business of Delta Zeta Sorority and many opportunities for personal development, connections with your Delta Zeta sisters all over the world, along with lots of fun shopping at DZ DeZigns and Herff Jones, our official jeweler! We plan to make Delta Zeta history as we embark on this virtual journey together. We are planning a kickoff event and three consecutive days (four hours each day) for live business meetings. A general schedule will be posted, at www.deltazeta.org/convention, when registration opens on May 3, 2021.

Because of our virtual environment, we are also pleased to announce that the 2021 National Convention will be completely free of cost to our delegates. That’s right – there is no registration fee for you as a voting member of our Convention body! Your role is paramount to the future of our organization as we come together to vote on important policies and changes. One of those issues being our budget, and we have exciting news to share there, too. We are thrilled to share the National Council is proposing a no fee increase in dues for the 2021-2023 biennium! Additionally, the National Council has waived the National Dues billed in April and due in May – and also waived the College Finance fee (formerly the College Auditing Fee), billed in June and due in July.

Please stay connected for messages about this new, exciting experience and adventure we will take together as Delta Zeta sisters. While this summer will look different than anticipated, we will offer robust virtual programming for both collegians and alumnae. We will share information with you directly via email as it pertains to your important role as a Convention Delegate. So, please make sure if you know of someone not receiving Delta Zeta emails to contact National Headquarters to check their communication preferences and be on the watch for many more announcements to come.

We know that you continue to focus on supporting your families, friends, communities, neighbors and all those in need as we remain vigilant in the wake of our current situation. Our hearts will become fuller as we focus on those efforts and staying connected to our Delta Zeta sisters as we make a difference in the lives we touch.

We recognize you may have many questions. If those are not covered on the attached FAQs, please contact National Council directly at DZLeadership@deltazeta.org. We are so appreciative of each of you and look forward to seeing you virtually this summer!
