How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?

My passion came from a person. His name was Nick. I was his caregiver during my time at Northwood. He had Autism, but I have to say his disability did not define him. His family showed me the importance of helping your neighbors. His family showed me the struggle of not having proper resources and tools. This led me to helping people that feel the same. Your circumstances should never define you as a person, and there are always people to help. There are people willing to lend you a hand when you most need it, and I strive to be that hand. Many opportunities have helped me shape my career, but one that I received recently is to be able to manage the Survivors tent at the Breast Cancer Awareness walk in Detroit, Michigan. Being a part of powerful people that have lived through something so heartbreaking is absolutely inspiring.

Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?

His name is Kevin Nelson. He was one of my peers at Northwood University. He has inspired me in ways that I cannot describe. His passion is one like mine. He lives to serve. He is a servant to the people, and he has shown that through his time at Northwood University and in his professional life. He currently works to make a better life for the homeless of Grand Rapids, Michigan and has already made so many strides. He has implemented things that haven’t been done before just because he cares. He is truly an inspiration.

How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?

I make an effort to stay connected via LinkedIn or continuous communication. Most of the relationships I’ve made through my network, I am still in contact with today.

How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?

Autumn Shwalbe is the best friend that I made during my time in Delta Zeta. She is truly an inspiration in herself. She is so driven, and pushes me to be the best version of myself. She has become so successful in her own field, and I am so proud of her, and she inspires me to give my all and do my best. All of my sisters are amazing, and I have to say that I was truly blessed to be amongst such inspirational women.
