How did you discover your passion for what you do, and what opportunities have helped shape your career?

When going off to college, this was not the path I was expecting to take. Like most, I struggled with figuring out what I wanted to really do the rest of my life. It was once I entered business school I realized my passion for accounting and anything to do with running a company. My parents owned their own company while I was growing up, which I feel like has influenced the strong passion I have for work and has helped me drive to want to succeed in my career.

Who has been an invaluable mentor for your professional career? What did you learn from them?

Each step in my career I have had a new mentor enter my life for different reasons. But the one that has always been with me since before I graduated college was my first boss John Patetta. He took this young lady ready to take on the corporate world and trained me to become this intelligent powerhouse. In the almost eight years we have worked together, John rarely ever told me no when I wanted to try something new or take on more than I should, which has helped me have a diverse skillset. I hope to one day be the mentor he was to me to another up-and-comer.

How do you make sure you stay connected with your professional network?

Our company is fortunate to have strong social networking through our company exclusive app called One Team. With similar capabilities to LinkedIn and other social media experiences, we can see the fun and good from all our locations nationwide. Aside from One Team, I have worked closely with our team to work on everyone’s LinkedIn presence for their own personal benefit now and in future endeavors.

How have friendships helped you professionally? Is there a friend (or Delta Zeta sister) that has been behind you every step of the way on your career journey?

Going all the way back to classes in college I’ve had one of my biggest cheerleaders there with me through it all. Michelle Hobson was with a different Greek organization but was there through all my classes pushing me not to give up. After graduation, we both were fortunate to land a job together and have now followed each other to Red Classic. While working together, she has always been one of my biggest support systems and my biggest critic. I guess you could say, we are each other’s work good luck charms.
