How did you discover your passion for what you do?
I have always had an affinity towards math and the sciences so decided to pursue engineering on the recommendation of my high school college counselor. I originally had aspirations to continue on to medical school, but after a couple of engineering internships, I realized that I enjoyed the problem-solving and process improvements I was able to make in a manufacturing plant environment. What inspires me to come to work every day is helping others to develop and to improve equipment/processes to make my employee’s jobs easier.
Who is your mentor, and how did he/she shape your career?
I wouldn’t say I have one single mentor but have had multiple mentors throughout my career with the various companies where I have worked. I have modeled my leadership style off various aspects where they each individually excel. One that sticks out to me is Michele Cain, a previous manager who resonates confidence and commands respect through consistency, sincerity and integrity. She gracefully handles conflict straight on and stands up for what she knows is right – we could all use a little more of that.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I love traveling and exploring new environments and cultures. I am planning a trip to Argentina and Chile currently! I also try to keep close to my long-distance friends and am always looking for an excuse to visit them.
