2021 Delta Zeta National Convention
Frequently Asked Questions

The following FAQ sheet has been prepared for you in anticipation of questions that may arise surrounding the 54th National Convention to be held July 15-18, 2021. If you have additional questions, please send them to DZLeadership@deltazeta.org.

  • Question: Is a virtual convention the only option?
Answer: Yes. Due to current limitations set forth because of the global pandemic, and after consultation with our legal counsel, it was determined that this is the only option. It is our aim to keep our members safe while moving forward in conducting the important business of the Sorority. We hope to reconvene in person for our 54th National Convention in 2023.

  • Question: Will there be live components of the National Convention, or will everything be pre-recorded?
Answer: Convention programming will be both live via video and pre-recorded.

  • Question: What is the registration fee for Convention?
Answer: There is no registration fee for Convention Delegates this year. There will be a nominal fee charged to guests who wish to attend the virtual event.

  • Question: When does registration for National Convention open?
Answer: All Convention Delegates will be registered automatically for the event by May 3, 2021. If you are not able to attend, please email DZConvention@deltazeta.org by May 15, 2021. Collegiate and Alumnae Chapter Delegates may choose to select an alternate delegate who should be approved by National Council. Registration for non-delegate visitors will open on Monday, May 3, 2021 and close on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

  • Question: Who are Convention Delegates?
Answer: Article V, Section 3 of Delta Zeta’s Constitution defines the delegates as “The members of the National Convention shall be: one delegate and the College Chapter Director from each college chapter in good standing; one delegate from each alumnae chapter in good standing; Regional Collegiate Directors; Area Alumnae Directors; the chairmen of standing and designated special committees; the National Council; and former members of National Council. Each member is entitled to one vote in Convention regardless of dual classification.” Typically, the Collegiate and Alumnae Chapter Presidents are the chapter delegates.

  • Question: Where will National Convention be hosted?
Answer: Delta Zeta’s National Convention will be hosted on a specific virtual event hosting platform, Meeting Play. More details on how to access the platform will be provided as the event nears.

  • Question: Will there be opportunity for me to meet and connect with other sisters outside of my region or area while participating in Convention?
Answer: Yes! You will be able to meet sisters from all over the country while at Convention. The platform we are using allows numerous opportunities and capabilities to connect with other attendees. You will be provided a full tutorial in advance of Convention.

  • Question: How will I be educated on the items that we will be voting on as part of sorority business?
Answer: All Convention Delegates (those eligible for voting) will participate in specific delegate learning sessions via The Learning Center, Delta Zeta’s learning management system, to understand the items and materials being discussed and voted upon during National Convention. These sessions will be accessible on The Learning Center on May 3, 2021 and must be completed by June 1, 2021 in order to be cleared to vote.

  • Question: How much time per day do I need to allocate for Convention attendance?
Answer: Please plan to attend all business meetings and general sessions. These events are anticipated to be approximately four hours each day. The schedule will be posted when registration opens in May at http://www.deltazeta.org/convention.

  • Question: How will we elect National Council?
Answer: We will follow the same election process during National Convention as we have done during previous Conventions. The delegates will vote through the meeting platform. For additional information, please refer to this announcement, regarding the Nominations and Elections process, that was sent on January 11, 2021 to all Official Family.

  • Question: Will there be a Convention photo this year?
Answer: Yes. We are asking every attendee to upload a photo when they create their profile on the Convention Platform Meeting Play. These will be merged together to create the Convention photo and will be sent to each participant.

  • Question: Will there be a Convention Initiation this year?
Answer: The National Council is excited to announce the Convention Initiation will be held during Delta Zeta 2021 Founders Day Weekend, October 23-24!
