What was/is your field of study or professional interest?
Currently, I am a professor and teach International Business and Marketing. I also serve on the Board of Trustees of the One Love Foundation and was the founding board chairman. I have an MBA in International Business and a doctorate in Business Administration and Marketing.
Tell us about a mentor who has shaped your career/life.
I feel blessed to have many mentors – which includes my friends. It is a blessing to have so many good people in my life, and I learn something from each of them. One of my earliest mentors was my boss when I worked at the U.S. House of Representatives. He taught me the importance of being thorough, being early to a meeting and that there is no one solution to a problem – problem-solving took open-mindedness and collaboration. He taught me that it was okay to not be right and even better to admit it.
Why do you give graciously to the Delta Zeta Foundation?
I give to the Foundation for the same reason I volunteer my time. I believe in what Delta Zeta offers us all, especially to the younger generation of sisters.
What is your favorite line of the Creed and why?
I have grown to love the last verse: “To myself, Faith. That I may walk truly in the light of the flame.” I have learned that if you do not believe in yourself, no one else will either. It is a great lesson and a constant reminder for me.
