How did you discover your passion for what you do?

I owe my career to Delta Zeta. I have been in the recruiting world since I graduated. I first became interested in this field because of my experience recruiting young women for four years into our chapter. Things like talking to complete strangers and trying to sell someone on a job came easy to me because I had so much practice. That appreciation for what I do grew into a passion where I’ve been able to help people find their next career move and focused on building an inclusive culture – just like Delta Zeta did for me.

What words of wisdom do you live by?

One of the best quotes I’ve ever heard and I reference often is, “My strength is in my struggle.” It is such a powerful statement that references all of the obstacles we are working to overcome as imperfect humans, and how we’re continuously not giving up to get where we want to be. This could be referring to the loss of a friend or family member, a weight loss journey or any failure we’ve had in life. The key is to focus on how these struggles can help you grow as a person and serve as a reminder to never give up.

How do you continue to grow and be a lifelong learner?

I have always been a book nerd, and average reading about four books a month. This year, so far, my favorite books have been “Dare to Lead” by Brene Brown and “Girl, Stop Apologizing” by Rachel Hollis. I keep a daily journal where I write things I’m grateful for, as well as my ten goals over the next ten years, which serves as a great reminder of what I continue to work towards. I also listen to at least one podcast a day on personal development. However, the best thing I did for myself was to attend Rachel Hollis’s Rise Conference on personal development this year. It was three full days of diving into your past, present and future, and gave me so much insight into both my strengths and areas of improvement. I highly recommend everyone attend at least one of these in their life!
