Active in sorority and community during and after her collegiate years.
It was the spring of her sophomore year. She packed up the boxes
of unseen flyers and stacks of unused cups as the last of the stragglers
left the auditorium. She didn't understand; she'd done everything
right. She planned an event that was fun and for a good cause. She
rented a great space and booked a cool band. She promoted a perfect
show. However, instead of raising a bunch of money with THE event of the
semester, she'd just wasted some on her first flop.
Fast forward to her senior year in
college. She gathered her team, made up of members of her Delta Zeta
chapter, together in the back room and thanked them for their part in
making a difference. They could hear the hum and buzz of the crowd in
the next room. She reminded them of what she had learned from
experienced advisors and encouraging sisters over the past couple of
years: Share your dreams. Work together toward the goal. And know that
success is in the trying and only found by overcoming failure. All of
them have been enriched by this experience, buoyed by the support of
Delta Zeta to "walk truly in the light of the flame." They are the
stronger for it individually and together.
