Delta Zeta Members Receive Awards

Krista Bagley received the Ruth Patterson Award for Outstanding New Member, and Abby Dornblaser received the Sara Rosier Bush Award for Outstanding Sophomore. Maryssa Kucskar won the Golden Crest Award for her dedication as Vice President of New Member Education and Community Service Chairman.


Beta Delta Chapter Receives Achievement Awards

At Region XVII Day, the Beta Delta Chapter (University of South Carolina) received Certificates of Achievement for Collegiate/Alumnae Relations and Outstanding Academic Achievement for the spring 2008 and fall 2008 semesters. All members with a 4.0 GPA were recognized by name and the gift of a pearl bracelet.

Gamma Alpha Chapter Wins First Place in Lip Sync Contest

January 29, 2010

The Gamma Alpha Chapter (Baldwin-Wallace College) won first place in the Lip Sync competition during Greek Week. Mallory Yankush, President, was named Greek Goddess. The chapter also won Best T-shirt during Homecoming, supporting the manufacturer of the shirts that plants one tree in the rainforest for every t-shirt sold.


Cindy Sue Soto, Kappa Alpha Chapter President, will travel to Haiti on mission trip

January 25, 2010

Cindy Sue Soto, Kappa Alpha Chapter President (Nicholls State University), will travel to Haiti on February 11th on a mission trip. She is collecting supplies, such as Tylenol, feminine hygiene products and infants' clothes, to take with her.

Soto, a 21-year-old from Kansas City, planned to go to Haiti as part of the Northwest Christian Mission prior to the earthquake.

“My goal is to work for free in third-world countries,” said Soto, who is a biology major with a concentration in pre-med. “That’s such a huge opportunity to . . . give something back.”

Danya Alawie, Epsilon Sigma Chapter (Wayne State University), Runs in 32nd annual Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon.

Wayne State University senior Danya Alawie of the Epsilon Sigma Chapter ran in two countries when she participated in the 32nd annual Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon. Alawie ran the half marathon, 13.1 miles, for the second-straight year. She was a part of last year's race that drew a record field of 18,354 runners, walkers, wheelers and hand-cyclists, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"It was amazing, I love running with so many people. I like big races like that," she said.

This year's event starts in Detroit, but some of the half-marathon and marathon runners cross into Canada during the marathon.
